Evaluation of Criteria Affecting the Choice of Health Management Department Using Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process Method

Abstract

This study was carried out to rank the criteria according to their relative importance that influences the selection of health management department. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to determine the criteria. The opinions of 164 health manager candidates (70.39 % of the population) studying for undergraduate education in the health management department at a state university in Türkiye were considered in the weighting and ranking of the criteria. Chang's Extent Analysis Method was used to weigh the criteria using a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) method. The highest priority criterion affecting choice of the department was “personal characteristics and abilities”, while the lowest criterion was “helplessness”. It can be said that people are selective about choosing departments that they believe are best for them rather than choosing departments that are in demand on Türkiye’s labor market when making career decisions.
