The Effect of Educational Interventions on Teachers' Knowledge and Attitudes Towards Epilepsy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Year 2026, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 1 - 19
https://doi.org/10.61535/bseusbfd.1548404

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of educational interventions on teachers' knowledge and attitudes towards epilepsy. A comprehensive literature search was conducted between January 2000 and July 2024 (Cochrane, Pubmed, Science Direct, Web of science, EBSCOHost, Embase/Elsevier ve Google Scholar). Word combinations of “teacher”, “epilepsy”, “knowledge”, “attitude” and “educational interventions” were used in the search process. Overall effect size, heterogeneity tests, publication bias and sensitivity analyses were performed with the random effects model. Comprehensive Meta- Analysis software (CMA 3.0) was used for data analysis. According to the homogeneity test results, Q, I2 and Tau values for knowledge were 205.797- 98.056 and 2.331, p<0.01, respectively, and for attitude were 36.001 - 91.667 and 0.193, p<0.01, respectively. According to the results, considering the average effect sizes within 95% CI, it was seen that the educational interventions applied to teachers had a positive and high effect size on teachers' knowledge and attitudes towards epilepsy (p<0.05). There is strong evidence that educational interventions for teachers increase teachers' knowledge and positively change their attitudes towards epilepsy.

Öğretmenlerin Epilepsiye Yönelik Bilgi ve Tutumlarına Eğitimsel Müdahalelerin Etkisi: Sistematik Derleme ve Meta Analiz

Year 2026, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 1 - 19
https://doi.org/10.61535/bseusbfd.1548404
