TEXTUAL PROPERTIES

Year 2007, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 264 - 275, 01.06.2007

Abstract

This article provides a critical assessment of standards of textuality and their
application to randomly chosen sentences from magazines, newspapers and ELT books.
I would like to discuss the limits of standards of textuality while analyzing a text from
the point of view of structural complexity and content. The special emphasis will be on
the functions of cohesive ties which help readers to get the hidden meaning of a text.
