BARIŞ SÜRECİNDE DÜŞÜNSEL DÖNÜŞÜM VE BARIŞ EĞİTİMİNİN ROLÜ

Year 2006, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 1 - 11, 01.06.2006

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses the role of positive thinking and peace education in the process of peacemaking as a transformative approach. The study stresses that the way we see determines our attitudes thus, peace starts with individual change, which may result in larger societal change over time. In this regard, peace education is addressed to be a system approach to larger mental tranformation. The qualities of peace education is discussed, based on the points such education supports and opposes. It is concluded that peace education can, and should, be utilized as a policy tool to achieve, or foster, societal and inter-societal peace. It is also concluded that no durable peace is feasible in the absence of a mental transformation of a large number of individuals
