The apparent variations of the solar diameter

Abstract

The autocorrelation method is applied to the observed va- riation of the solar diam eter.
The results substantially agree with those obtained by M. Cimino. The period of th e variation is around 23 years, bu t this is not a period in a stric t sense. The phase shift betw een th e variations in diam eter and th e va­ riation in sunspot num bers is confirmed
