Covid-19 Perception Of Izmir Katip Celebi University Faculty Of Medicine Students

Abstract

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the whole world starting in 2020. The aim of this study is to determine the differences between the perceptions of Izmir Katip Celebi University Faculty of Medicine students regarding the COVID-19 virus according to the terms and sociodemographic characteristics. Materials and Methods: The data of the study were collected from Izmir Katip Celebi University Faculty of Medicine students through an online questionnaire in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Personal Information Form containing questions about sociodemographic characteristics and COVID-19 Perception Scale were applied to the participants. Results: 126 students, 51 (40.5%) female and 75 (59.5%) male, participated in the study. It was observed that the students of Izmir Katip Celebi University Faculty of Medicine who participated in the study had a high risk perception. It was concluded that the risk perceptions of the participants were affected by the place they lived. The dangerousness score of the students living in the dormitory is higher than the score of the students living in a detached house; and lower than those living in an apartment (p=0.047). Conclusion: It is seen that the students of Izmir Katip Celebi University Faculty of Medicine have a high level of consciousness and risk perception due to the education they receive. It has been observed that students' high risk perceptions are also affected by the places they live.

İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Covid-19 Algısı

Abstract

Amaç: COVID-19 pandemisi 2020 yılında başlayarak tüm dünyayı etkisi altına almıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin dönemlere ve sosyodemografik özelliklerine göre COVID-19 virüsüne olan algıları arasındaki farklılıkları belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırmanın verileri İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinden, 2020-2021 Eğitim-Öğretim yılı güz döneminde çevrim içi anket yoluyla toplanmıştır. Katılımcılara sosyodemografik özelliklerine ait soruları içeren Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve COVID-19 Algısı Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: 51 (%40,5)’i kadın 75 (%59,5)’i erkek olmak üzere 126 öğrenci çalışmaya katılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin yüksek risk algısına sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Katılımcıların risk algılarının yaşadıkları yerden etkilendiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yurtta yaşayan öğrencilerin tehlikelilik puanının müstakil evde yaşayanların puanından yüksek; apartman dairesinde yaşayanlardan düşük olduğu görülmüştür (p=0,047). Sonuç: İzmir Kâtip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin aldıkları eğitim dolayısıyla yüksek bilinç düzeyine ve risk algısına sahip oldukları görülmektedir. Öğrencilerin yüksek risk algılarının yaşadıkları yerlerden de etkilendiği görülmüştür.
