Even
if in some
alternative
medicine,
resins
are used
widely for the
treatment.
In this study,
antibacterial effects of obtained resins from pine, cherry and apricot were investigated on some gram ( -) and
gram (+) bacterias. Eight different bacteria strains were used for this research. These bacterias are Bacillus cereus (ATCC-11778), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC-11774), Escherichia coli (ATCC-25922), Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC-4352),
Pasteurella multocida (ATCC-12945), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC-27853),
Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC-6538) and Yersinia enterocolitica (ATCC-27729). This study were conducted agar well diffusion method. Then the bacterias were left to the 12-hours culture growth. 12 hours later, pine, cherry and apricot zone diameters formed by the resins were measured.
As
a result, Especially pine resin showed highest effects on the bacterias. The other resins also showed antibacterial effects on the bacterias but these effects were short-lived.
