BEHAVIOUR OF TOLUIDINE RED TOWARDS SOME METAL IONS

Abstract

The reaction of Toluidine Red with some metal salts, e.g. mercuric, copper, cobalt and nickel acetate was studied. The structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed through IR, UV, MS and powder XRD analyses. The results revealed that the compounds were of monometallated and dimetallated products. The biological activity of the prepared Toluidine Red metal complexes on Biomphalria Alexandrina snails showed high mortality rate which depends on the type of the metal ion forming the complex.
