Formation And Reduction of Surface Oxides of Copper

Abstract

SUMMARY Nature of the phases formed on copper electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Cu2O was the majör product during electrochemical oxidation. Cu2O was formed by dissolution precipitation mechanism. Two different Cu2O films existed on copper electrode and reduced at different potentials. The first (Cu2O)j film exhibited resistance polarization to the second (Cu2O)n film.
