THE SEPERATION OF MOLYEDENUM AAD VAFADHJM FROM TURKISH ASPHAL1İTE ASH BYION EXCHANGE CHROMATOGRAPY
Abstract
The recovery of rare elemeuts as by-produets from The ash of coal or asphaltite has been important and the amount of them. has been found suitable for ecouomical recovcring. The asp¬haltite in the southeast Anatolia region (Turkey) contains molybdemım, vanadium, nickel and uranium. In the present work, the ash sample obtaiend from Şırnak asphaltite was leached with sulphuric acid. This leachatc contains 240 mg / L. Mo, 100 mg / L V, 71 mg,/ L Ni and 175 mg/ L Fe. This leach solution was passed through a cohımn of leugth 100 cm with an internal dia- meter of 1.5 cm. The metal ions were eluated with different H2SO4 Solutions. 97 % of the total Alo as 72 % püre molybdenum and 25 % Mo as a mixture with vanadium werc separated by elution with 0.01 N H2SO4 and 0.1 N H2SO4.
