The behavior of cabal glasses, based on the CaO-B2C>3- AI2O3 compositions towards crystallization, their chemical durability and thermal expansion coefficients as well as derivative glass ceramics have been investigated. The base glass composition was modified by replacing part of CaO by Li2O to initiate crystallization. The glass ceramics were found to have higher chemical durability and lower thermal expansion coefficients than the precursor glass, that can be correlated with the formation of Li2B8Oi3(Lİ2O.4B2O3), p-CaAİ2B2O7 and LiA102.
