Abstract
In this study, karyotype anaîysis was carried out on somatic root-tip metapîıases of Cicer arietinum L. (chick-pea). 2n = 16 chromosomes were observed during metaphase. These somatic chromosome numbers were found to be the same as reported bj earlier researchers. Lengths of the chromosomes wete foımd to vary from 1,52 p to 3,74 A pair of satellited chromosomes tvas clearly distingoishablc and these satellited chromosomes were the longest of the complement.
