CHARACTERIZATION OF BACTERİOPHAGE RESISTANCE MECHANISMS ENCODED BY PLASMIDS IN LACTOCOCCUSLACTIS SUBSP. LACTIS MLL76

Abstract

Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis MLL76 exhibits two mechanisms which confer resistance to virulent bacteriophages. These include interference with bacteriophage adsorption (Ads+) and bacteriophage DNA injection blocking (Phi+). Curing of plasmid DNA from strain MLL76 has allovved bacteriophage resistance functions assigned to two of its six plasmids.
