The title of the manuscript must have capitalized initial letters and consist of no more than 12 words.
The title must be written in 14-point Times New Roman, bold, single-spaced, and centered on the page.
If the study has been previously presented, or produced from a project or thesis, this must be indicated with an asterisk (*) as a footnote at the end of the title.
Author Names
Author names must be written in 12-point bold, while institutional affiliations must be written in 10-point, non-bold.
Full names, academic titles, institutional affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of the author(s) must be provided.
Abstract and Öz (Turkish Abstract)
The Abstract and Öz must not exceed 250–300 words.
Following the title page, the Turkish abstract (Öz) should be presented first, followed by the English abstract.
For research articles, the abstract must include the following sections as headings:
Purpose, Method, Results, and Conclusion.
Keywords
At the end of the abstract, a maximum of five keywords must be provided in lowercase letters.
All formatting rules applied to the Turkish abstract must also be applied to the English abstract, which must begin on a separate page.
Main Text
Both quantitative and qualitative studies must include the following sections:
Introduction
The introduction should explain:
the importance of the study,
its position within the existing literature,
its relevance to the field of sports sciences,
and clearly state the purpose of the study in the final paragraph.
Method
The Method section must include the following subsections:
Participants: Physical characteristics of the participants.
Materials: Instruments used, including brand names and place of manufacture.
Procedure: Detailed explanation of the methods used, organized under subheadings.
Statistical Analysis: Statistical methods used in the study must be clearly stated.
Results
Results must be presented in tables and/or figures.
The most important findings related to each table or figure must be explained below the table or figure.
Discussion
This section must provide a clear and detailed interpretation of the findings.
The cited literature should be directly related to the study’s findings.
The final paragraph should clearly present the conclusion.
Recommendations
Recommendations should be provided based on the study findings, indicating how future research in the field may benefit from the results and how they may be applied.
Acknowledgements
If applicable, supporting institutions and/or individuals must be clearly acknowledged.
References
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all references.
References must be cited in-text using the author’s surname and publication year in parentheses, and listed in the reference section alphabetically, without numbering.
Use “and” instead of “&” between author names.
For works with more than two authors, use “et al.” in parenthetical citations.
Example:
(Bompa et al., 2002)
The references section must begin on a new page.
Both in-text citations and the reference list must follow the rules specified in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th edition.
Reference Formats
Journal Articles:
Author(s). (Year). Title of the article. Journal Title, volume(issue), pages.
Example:
Yilmaz, E., Özen, G., & Koc, H. (2018). Evaluation of alpine skiing injuries in terms of personal precautions: Erciyes sample. Turkish Journal of Sports Medicine, 53(1), 9–16.
Books:
Author(s). (Year). Book title. City: Publisher.
Example:

Extended Summary
For manuscripts written in Turkish, an English extended summary must be added after the references.
For manuscripts written in English, a Turkish extended summary must be provided.
The Turkish extended summary must be 750–1000 words.
The English summary must be structured under the headings:
Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion and Conclusion,
and must follow the same rules as the main text.
Tables, Figures, and Appendices
Tables, figures, images, and graphs must be placed within the text, not at the end of the manuscript.
Authors should be selective in the use of visual materials; overly complex or data-heavy tables and figures should be avoided.
Statistical results should preferably be presented in the text rather than in tables.
Results presented in tables should not be repeated verbatim in the text.
Tables and figures must be numbered sequentially (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).
All tables and figures must be cited in the text using their numbers.
Explanatory notes may be placed below tables or figures, including source information if adapted.
Table and Figure Formatting
Vertical and horizontal gridlines should not be used in tables.
Only top and bottom borders and header row lines should be emphasized.
Tables and figures must use 10-point Times New Roman, single-spaced, with 0 pt spacing before and after.
Tables and figures must be left-aligned, and text wrapping must be disabled.
Appendices
Materials not suitable for inclusion in the main text should be presented as appendices after the references.
If there is only one appendix, it should be titled Appendix; if more than one, use Appendix A, Appendix B, etc.
Appendices must be cited in the text and include their own titles.
Other Rules
The p-value should not be presented as a separate column in tables.
Statistical symbols (e.g., F, p) must be written in italics.
Only two decimal places should be used after commas.
A space must be left before and after the equals sign (e.g., F (1,40) = 6.78).
Use of References
Any information, data, or opinion not belonging to the author must be properly cited.
All sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list.
In-text Citations
Use “and” instead of “&”.
Examples:
Kılınç and Özen (2015)
(Çetin and Erdoğan, 2014)
(Adam, Care, and John, 1993)
Ordering of Citations
Multiple citations within parentheses must be listed alphabetically.
Example:
(Akın and Kartal, 1996; Burcu, 1984; Can, 1996; Çolak and Kara, 2002; Sarıca, 2006; Zafer, 2001)
Authors with the Same Surname
When two authors share the same surname, initials must be included.
Examples:
N. Özgen (1985); M. Öztürk (1990)
Multiple Works by the Same Author in the Same Year
Use lowercase letters (a, b, c) after the year.
Examples:
(Atar, 1990a, 1990b, 1990c)
Özen (2001a), Özen (2001b)
Multiple Works by the Same Author
List works chronologically.
Example:
(Myers, 1998, 2003)
