The Efficiency and Safety of BIOAPIFIT® Abscess Area Care Ointment in the Management of Abscess-Prone Inflammatory Skin Lesions: A Controlled Clinical Study
Abstract
Objective / Purpose: Cutaneous abscesses represent localized inflammatory lesions influenced by microbial and host immune factors. Psychophysiological stress may further modulate inflammatory responses and lesion dynamics. The efficacy and safety of BIOAPIFIT® Abscess Area Care Ointment, a honey-based multi-component topical formulation, were evaluated in a controlled clinical setting. Materials and methods: Eighty participants with early-stage abscess-prone inflammatory skin lesions were enrolled in a 10-day controlled study. Forty subjects received topical BIOAPIFIT® ointment, while 40 controls underwent wound hygiene alone. Clinical parameters (erythema, oedema, pain/tenderness, skin integrity, dryness) were assessed on Days 0, 5, and 10 using a standardized 4-point scale. Perceived stress was measured using the PSS-10 questionnaire. Results: Baseline characteristics were comparable between groups. The treated cohort demonstrated significantly accelerated abscess rupture (2.7 ± 0.9 vs. 5.9 ± 1.3 days) and complete healing in 37 of 40 subjects by Day 10 of the experimental group, compared with only 7/40 in the control subjects. Repeated measures ANOVA confirmed highly significant time-dependent improvements and between-group differences (p < 0.001). All participants exhibited elevated perceived stress levels. No adverse events were observed. Conclusion: BIOAPIFIT® Abscess Area Care Ointment significantly accelerated inflammatory resolution and wound closure compared with hygiene alone, with excellent tolerability. Elevated stress burden within the study population may represent a relevant contextual factor in lesion development and healing dynamics.
