Relation Between Sufism And Islamic Law In Izz Ibn Abd Al-Salam

Abstract

Izz b. Abd al Salam is a famous Shafiite jurist conversated with sect leaders at his period and gave a lot of works at Sufism branch. He has undertaken duties of professorship (mudarrislik), judgeship (kadilik), chief-judgeship (başkadılık), religious leadership (imamlık) and preachership (hatiplik) and has dealt with policy and philosophical juridical and teologica1 and mystical discussions. He has written approximately fourty works at fields of Islamic Law, Tafseer, Hadith, Theology Prophetic History Sufism and others. Abd al-Salam who has adopted view of Sunnite Sufism based on Qur’an and Sunnah, has dealt with workships rather as a whole with their interior and exterior and put forward relation between form and meaning with spiritual aspects than giving useless catechism information on workships. Izz Ibn Abd al Salam’s commentaries which takes care blance of interior-exterior about his juridical judgement and especially workships give us important clues on relation between Sufism and Islamic Law
