Abstract

If we look at the historical process of the place names in Anatolia, we can see which the last owner these areas Turks gave place names right for their language. The Turk clans, who came to the Anatolia after 1071, analyzed their geography and in respect of gave names these areas. For instance; The Turks gave Ankyra-Ankara, Attaleia-Antalya, Ikonium-Konya, Prusa-Bursa and Sebastia-Sivas names suitable for their expression. There are trades of name places of the tribes which continued domination and become a thing of the past on the Anatolia along years in which we have used names. The names were given due to a stone or soil among using names in Anatolia. The sources, origin of historical place names are people and geography. The some place names were purification with king, queen, emperor, khan, princess, commander, vali, hero, women or man. These names were given cities or zones in order to remember a event, a legend and a epic
