İslâm toplumu, nüzûlünden itibaren Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’i okuma ve muhafaza etmede üstün gayret sergilemiştir. Kur’an’ın fonetik çerçevesi de bu bağlamda evvelce şifahî tedris tarzıyla korunmuştur. Akabinde âlimler ihtiyaca binaen doğru okuyuş açısından Kur’an harfleri/kelimelerini konu edinen, mehâric-i hurûf ve sıfât-ı hurûf temelinde yükselen tecvid ilmini inşa etmişler; manzume-nesir formatında geniş bir literatür vücuda getirmişlerdir.
The Islamic society has shown great effort in reading and preserving the Qurʾān since its revelation. In this context, the phonetic framework of the Qurʾān was previously preserved with the oral teaching style. Thereafter, the scholars built the science of tajwīd, which deals with the letters/words of the Qurʾān in terms of correct reading, and the rise of makhārij al-ḥurūf and ṣifāt al-ḥurūf; they brought a great wealth of literature in the form of verse and prose. With this accumulation, the recitation of the Qurʾān has been provided with a common phonetic feature in the language of the ummah consisting of various nations. However, there have always been some theoretical and practical conflicts in this science due to its close relationship with Arabic and the science of recitation, as well as individual characteristics.
Iraqi scholar Ghanem Kaddouri al-Hamad, one of the contemporary researchers, has developed a new perspective on tajwīd style and content, in which classical acquis and contemporary phonetics are fused. Along with he made in-depth studies on some current conflicts and the soundness of recitation practices. In this study, Ghanem Kaddouri and his works related on Qurʾān phonetics were introduced; besides, Al-Hamad's understanding of the phonetics of the Qurʾān, which includes the organs that produce linguistic sounds, the production of sounds, their classification, and their judgments at the individual and compound level, were discussed.
