In Algeria, occupational hazards cause a worrying number of work accidents and occupational diseases. New laws were introduced to support worker’s health risks following the economic reforms of the 1990s and the adoption of the market economy. This article highlights the persistence of work accidents and occupational hazards despite the regulations. It shows the results of a field survey on occupational hazards and their consequences on the health of 250 workers in the city of Bejaia.
