Author Guidelines

1. Our journal is a "Peer-Reviewed Journal" and is published biannual (January and July).

2. Articles subject to peer review must be uploaded to DergiPark along with a plagiarism program report, a Copyright Transfer Form, and, for translations, a document proving that the necessary approvals have been obtained pursuant to the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works and other relevant legislation.

3. Articles submitted to the journal must not have been published elsewhere or submitted for publication. Submission of an article to our journal signifies the author's commitment to this matter.

4. Authors must provide their titles, ORCID numbers (Scientific Researcher Identification Numbers) obtained from https://orcid.org/signin, their institutions, their correspondence addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This information must be uploaded in a separate file from the article file.

5. All manuscripts submitted for publication (excluding translations) must also be accompanied by a plagiarism program. The acceptable similarity rate is a maximum of 15%, excluding footnotes, citations, and references.

Articles must be edited in accordance with the format and material requirements stipulated in our publication policy. Articles that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the author for correction. A second revision will not be granted and will be rejected by our editorial team.

In addition, the following sentence must be added to the first footnote of articles: "The author undertakes that his/her work complies with the scientific and ethical principles of our Journal."

6. The author must indicate their opinion regarding the nature of the work (research article, decision review, translation, or other work (compilation, etc.)) under the title. The classification of submitted manuscripts is evaluated by the reviewers. If the reviewers disagree on the type of manuscript, the decision of the editorial board will prevail.

7. Translations must also be submitted in the original language. Furthermore, for translations, the translating author must have obtained written permission from the rights holders of the original work, in accordance with the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, and this must be stated in a footnote added to the translation title.

8. While our journal's primary language is English, we also publish articles in German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Arabic.

9. The title, abstract, and keywords for articles submitted to the journal must be written in both English and Turkish, in addition to the language of the article. The abstract must be a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 200 words, and five keywords must be included.

10. Submitted articles must be in Times New Roman font, with 12 point font for the main text and 1.5 line spacing, and 10 point font for footnotes (single spaced), with 2.5 cm margins on top and bottom, and must not exceed 50 pages (including references) (maximum 30 pages for translations).

11. Headings within the text must be numbered and formatted as follows:

I. BOLDED AND ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
A. Bolded with Initial Letters Capitalized
1. Bolded with Initial Letters Capitalized
a. Bolded with only the first letter capitalized
aa. Bolded with only the first letter capitalized
aaa. Bolded with only the first letter capitalized

12. References must be indicated as footnotes at the bottom of the page. At the end of the article, a bibliography must be included, listing all sources cited in the article, arranged alphabetically by the authors' last names.

13. All citations in footnotes and bibliography must comply strictly with the Chicago Manual of Style citation guidelines.

14. Articles will undergo an initial assessment by the Editorial Board. Excessive spelling or grammatical errors, explicit violations of publication/ethical principles, failure to meet scholarly standards, submissions below the journal’s quality and standards, or failure to implement reviewer-suggested corrections within 20 days, may result in rejection by the Editorial Board.

15. Articles approved in the initial evaluation for peer review will be sent to two anonymous reviewers. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editorial Board will decide whether to publish the article, request revisions within the scope of the reviewers’ suggestions, or reject the submission. Authors will be notified of the decision as soon as possible.

16. If one reviewer’s report is positive and the other is negative, the article will be sent to a third reviewer for evaluation. Articles receiving negative evaluations from reviewers will not be published. If revisions are requested, authors must make corrections exclusively within the specified scope and submit the revised manuscript within 20 days. If the requested revisions are not completed within this period, the Editorial Board reserves the right to reject the article.

17. If any reviewer identifies a violation of research and publication ethics, the author will be informed that the article is deemed unsuitable for publication in Dokuz Eylül University Law Journal. Additionally, the Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any submission, even if it has passed peer review, should any other impediments to publication arise, provided the reason is communicated to the author.

18. Authors may withdraw submissions from the journal up until the completion of the peer-review process.

19. Articles that have undergone peer review and are approved for publication, with or without required revisions, must be submitted in their final form in Microsoft Word format (*.doc, *.docx) and uploaded to the system.

20. Articles submitted are presumed to have undergone a final proofreading and are accepted as ready for publication in the form submitted by the author, whether in print or electronic format.

21. Upon acceptance for publication, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law retains all publication rights, including electronic publication rights in any format. Authors are deemed to have transferred copyright to the Faculty.
