General Information
Article Submission Requirements
When submitting a manuscript, authors must upload the following files:
1. Manuscript File (Blinded Version):
Prepared according to the journal’s formatting rules, with no author names, affiliations, or identifying information, in accordance with the double-blind review policy.
2. Title Page:
Must include the article title, full author names, ORCID iDs, affiliations (Department, Faculty/School, Institution, City, Country), ROR ID (if available), and contact information for the corresponding author.
3. Copyright Transfer & Author Responsibility Form
Please complete all sections of the form accurately and in full, then sign and upload it as a PDF file. To access the form, please click here.
4. Similarity Report:
A plagiarism check generated by a reliable software tool must be uploaded. The editorial office may repeat the similarity check during evaluation.
5. Ethics Committee Approval or Exemption Statement:
A valid ethics approval document must be submitted when required. If the study does not require ethics approval, authors must upload an explanatory statement confirming this.
Ethical Considerations
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Approval
Studies involving human participants, biological human-derived materials, medical records, or sensitive patient data must include an explicit statement in the Methods section confirming that:
IRB/Ethics Committee approval was obtained, including the committee name, approval number, and date, or
The committee ruled that approval was not necessary.
Research involving human subjects must comply with international guidelines including:
Declaration of Helsinki (latest revision)
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles
Guidelines for the ethical treatment and use of animals (where applicable)
Patient identities must not be revealed under any circumstances.
Permissions
Authors must obtain written permission to reproduce any previously published material including:
Figures, tables, or graphics
Photographs
Device images
Proprietary charts or illustrations
If permissions are not provided, DHIT assumes all included material is original to the authors.
Article Types
All article types published in DHIT undergo peer review.
Original Research Articles
Full-length studies reporting original, impactful research in digital health, medical technologies, clinical informatics, artificial intelligence in medicine, telemedicine, and related fields. Manuscripts should present robust methodology and significant findings.
Review Articles
Comprehensive reviews presenting up-to-date analyses of major developments in the field. Reviews must offer critical evaluation, identify knowledge gaps, and discuss future research directions. Only authors with demonstrable expertise in the topic may be invited or considered for review submissions.
Short Communications
Concise reports presenting notable findings, innovative solutions, or methodological advancements. These articles should be focused, clearly structured, and limited in scope. Preliminary or incomplete results are not suitable unless of exceptional importance.
Rapid Reports
Accelerated submissions presenting timely innovations, emerging digital health technologies, or urgent findings of relevance. These undergo expedited review but must meet the journal’s scientific standards.
Case Reports
Case studies that illustrate rare, novel, or exceptionally insightful use of digital technologies in clinical practice. Reports highlighting innovative diagnostic or therapeutic approaches are prioritized. Case reports should be concise (maximum 750 words, excluding abstract).
Letters to the Editor
Scholarly commentary on articles published in DHIT, critiques, clarifications, or reinforcement of key findings. Letters must be objective, scientifically grounded, and approximately 750 words. Letters unrelated to previously published DHIT content will not be considered.
Manuscript Preparation
Formatting
Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
Text should be single-spaced and written in a clear, professional style.
Maximum length for full articles: 6,000 words (excluding references, tables, figures).
Use MathType or the Word equation editor for formulas.
Tables must be created with the Word table tool.
Title
Titles should be concise, descriptive, and meaningful. Capitalize only the first word and proper nouns.
Authors and Affiliations
Each author’s:
full name (without abbreviations),
ORCID iD,
institutional affiliation (Department, Faculty, Institution, City, Country),
ROR ID (if applicable)
must be provided.
Abstract
A structured abstract (max. 250 words) is required for all article types except reviews and case reports. Structure:

Up to 10 keywords supporting indexing and searchability.

Case reports include: Abstract, Introduction, Case Description, Discussion, References.
Use no more than three levels of headings.
Footnotes
Footnotes may be used sparingly for supplementary explanations. They must not contain tables, figures, or uncited references.
Tables, Figures, and Illustrations
Tables
Number consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, …).
Title above the table; Times New Roman, 10-pt.
Explanatory notes placed below the table.
Statistically significant results should appear in bold.
Figures
Must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, TIFF.
Titles and legends should be detailed and placed below the figure.
Previously published figures require permissions.
Images containing identifiable individuals require written consent.

Placed before the references, including:

Funding Statement
Conflict of Interest Declaration
Ethics Committee Approval
Artificial Intelligence Use Statement (if AI tools were used in any part of the research)
Author Contributions
(equal contributions statements are not accepted)
Reference Style
DHIT uses the Vancouver citation style. References must be:
numbered in the order cited, written in accordance with Index Medicus journal abbreviations, accurate and complete.
“Personal communications” should be avoided unless essential, and written permission must be obtained.
Proofreading
After typesetting, authors receive proofs. All authors must review and approve the proof before publication. Major changes at proof stage are not permitted except for correcting factual or typographical errors.
Multicenter Studies
For multicenter trials, authorship may be listed as:
Study Group only, or
Up to five authors + Study Group name
A Writing Committee must be identified, and all contributors must sign authorship forms.

All statements, opinions, and data in published articles are the sole responsibility of the authors. DHIT does not assume liability for damages resulting from the application of information found in published materials. Readers should independently verify diagnostic or therapeutic recommendations.
