Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the effect of soaking in coffee solution on color differences after two polishing processes are applied to three different CAD/CAM ceramics with currently used resin matrix content.
Materials and Methods: A total of 60 samples (1.5 mm ± 0.01 thickness) of three different resin matrix CAD/CAM blocks [polymer-infiltrated-ceramic-network (VE, VITA Enamic), nanoparticle-filled ceramic (LU, Lava Ultimate), composite resin nano-ceramic (CE, Cerasmart)] were prepared (n=20). The prepared samples were divided into two subgroups according to the polishing process (n=10); While polishing rubber was applied to one group (D, Diapol Twist), polishing discs were applied to the other group (S, Sof-Lex Disc). The color values of the samples before (L0, a0, b0) and after soaking in the coffee solution (L1, a1, b1) were recorded in the CIE Lab color system with a spectrophotometer device (Vita EasyShade). Color differences were calculated with the formula CIEDE2000 (ΔE00). Then, the values were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey’s multiple comparison tests.
Results: As a result of the two-way analysis of variance, it was obtained that only the ceramic type effect significantly on the color differences (p<0.001). Although the samples polished with Sof-Lex discs in all ceramics showed less color difference than the Diapol Twist polishing rubber, there was no statistically significant difference between them (p>0.05). Each group showed a clinically unacceptable color differences value (ΔE00> 1.8). Statistically, the lowest color differences were obtained in the VE ceramics (p<0.05). The statistically higher color differences were observed in the CS ceramic groups than in other ceramics (p<0.05) except the LU_D group (p>0.05).
Conclusion: After soaking in a coffee solution, the color of CS ceramic was more affected than other resin matrix ceramics.

Kahve Solüsyonunun Rezin Matriks Seramiklerin Renk Değişimine Etkisi

Year 2023, Volume: 9 Issue: 2, 98 - 105, 29.08.2023
https://doi.org/10.21306/dishekimligi.1222917
