Abstract
Nantes Üniversitesi Tarih bölümünde akademik kariyerini sürdüren John V. Tolan, Orta Çağ Avrupa’sının İslam dünyasıyla ilişkileri konusundaki uzmanlığını şimdiye kadar yayınladığı Saracens: Islam in the Medieval European Imagination (2002), Sons of Ishmael: Muslims through European Eyes in the Middle Ages (2008), Saint Francis and the Sultan: the Curious History of a Christian–Muslim Encounter (2009) başlıklı üç kitapla ortaya koymuştu. Bu çerçevedeki son çalışması ise İslam Peygamberinin Batı Avrupa’da nasıl algılandığı üzerinedir.
