Çocuklarda Astım Hastalığının Diş Çürüğü Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Dünyanın birçok ülkesinde astımlı çocuk nüfusu giderek artan önemli bir sağlık sorunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu çocuklar çeşitli etkenlere bağlı olarak sosyal, psikolojik, gelişimsel ve çevresel sorunların  yanı sıra ağız ve diş hastalıkları gibi sorunları da hastalıkla birlikte yaşarlar. Astımlı çocuklarda beta 2-agonist ve kortikosteroid kullanımına bağlı olarak çürük prevalansında artış görülebilmektedir. Bu durum astımlı çocukların sağlıklı çocuklara oranla daha yüksek oranda çürük oluşumu ile sonuçlanabilir. Astımlı çocuklarda göz ardı edilen ağız ve diş sorunları ile ilgili farkındalık yaratılmalı ve koruyucu diş hekimliği programları yaygınlaştırılmalıdır.

The Effect of The Asthma Disease In Children On The Dental Caries

Abstract

The growing number of child asthma patients is an indicator of a serious health problem worldwide. In addition to social, psychological, developmental and environmental issues; these children are suffering from dental health problems. An increase in caries prevalence may be seen in children with asthma due to the use of beta 2 agonists and corticosteroids.  It can be concluded that asthmatic children have a higher prevalence of dental caries than healthy children. An awareness for these neglected dental health problems of young asthma patients needs to be risen and should be provided widespread preventive dental programmes.
