Abstract
Anımsamanın sembolik biçimleriyle – bunlar ister anıtlar ve müzeler gibi maddi, ister anma ritüelleri gibi biçimsel olsun – bireysel ve kuşaklara ait anıların zaman bakımından sınırlı kapsamı sonsuz bir şekilde genişletilebilir. Ancak bu süreçte, bu anılar kuşaklara özgü yaşantı niteliğini yitirir ve gelecek kuşakların üyelerine açık olan daha genel bir kolektif hafıza biçimine dönüşür (Assmann, 2006: 224). Henrietta Lidchi’ye (1997), göre müzeler sadece nesnelerin sergilendiği nötr mekânlar değildir; aynı zamanda anlam inşa eden kurumlardır. Müzeler, kültürel nesneleri seçme, düzenleme ve yorumlama biçimleriyle toplumsal bilginin üretilmesine ve şekillendirilmesine katkıda bulunurlar.
