Böylece makale, Leibniz’in metafiziğinin -özelde varlık hiyerarşisinin- Plotinos’tan bağımsız bir biçimde anlaşılamayacağı iddiası etrafında şekillenmektedir.
In this article Leibniz’s hierarchy of being is dealt with and in this respect, it is illustrated to what extent Leibniz was influenced by Neo-Platonism and particularly Plotinus. For this purpose, Leibniz’s hierarchy of being that fundamentally consists of soul, spirit and God is compared with Plotinos’ three hypostases that consist of soul, spirit and One. Accordingly, it is explained that Leibniz’s conceptions of soul, spirit and God, and the order established by the philosopher, on the one hand, have a religious dimension, and, on the other hand, have a philosophical aspect; and it is also argued that the philosophical aspect of the hierarchy is largely composed of Neo-Platonism, particularly of Plotinos' philosophy or his hierarchy of being. Consequently, this article is centered around the claim that Leibniz’s metaphysics, in particular his hierarchy of being, can not be understood independently of Plotinus.
