PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF AN INDUCTION MOTOR BY USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD
Abstract
Although induction machines are simple and rugged for operational maintenance purposes, they have indeed somewhat complex stator and rotor slot geometries. Industrial practice demands the maximum efficiency and highest torque values from these machines.
In this study, speed-torque characteristics and torque calculation of a 3 kW squirrel cage induction motor chosen as test machine have been obtained by finite element method. FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics) software is utilized for this purpose. On the other hand, no-load and short-circuit experiments are evaluated and compared the results.
