GRAIN SIZE ANALYSIS OF KARABURHAN BANDED CHROMITE ORE PRIOR TO COMMINUTION
Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to evaluate grain size distribution prior to comminution by image analysis. The samples
belonging to Eskişehir Karaburhan chromite ore were examinated by Leco 2001 image analyzer. Mean Feret
diameters of chromite grains which show lognormal distribution was measured and various derived mean diameters
and their grain size distributions were determined. Number geometric mean (lnxN) geometric standard deviation
(lnxσ) were found as 3.729 ln μm and 0.993 ln μm respectively. Number-length (xNL) mean diameter and its d80 size
were determined as 68.2 μm and 157 μm respectively by using relationship between number mean sizes. Numbervolume
(mass) mean diameter (xNV) and its d80 size were calculated as 183 μm and 421 μm respectively.
