EFFECT OF CYPERMETHRIN ON MORPHOLGY AND SEX RATIO OF ADULTS OF Drosophila melanogaster

Year 2009, Issue: 019, 1 - 14, 15.08.2009

Abstract

In this research, the effects
of cypermethrin on the morphological characteristics of Drosophila melanogaster's adults and on the sex ratio were studied.
Cypermethrin was applied to Drosophila melanogaster by means of nutrition. Abnormality was
observed in the adults, especially in those which originate from the third
thorax segment and in their wings. Abnormalities were observed in both
generations. The abnormality rate of F1 generation in experimental
groups  (3.99) is considerably higher
when compared to the control group (0.77). However, abnormality rate in F2
generation was found to be lower in some experimental groups when compared to
the control group. Results may indicate the development of resistance against
cypermethrin. It can be said that males are more inclined to the resistance
development.  When all findings of the
research regarding the sex ratio are taken into account, it can be suggested
that there is no developmental disorder, arising out of sex. Besides, females
can be said to be more sensitive to cypermethrin than males.

CYPERMETHRİN’İN Drosophila melanogaster’DE ERGİN BİREYLERİN MORFOLOJİSİ VE EŞEY ORANINA ETKİSİ

Year 2009, Issue: 019, 1 - 14, 15.08.2009

Abstract

Bu
araştırmada cypermethrinin, Drosophila
melanogaster
’in ergin bireylerinin morfolojik özellikleri ve eşey oranına
etkileri araştırılmıştır. Cypermethrin Drosophila
melanogaster
’e beslenme yoluyla uygulanmıştır. Ergin bireylerin özellikle
üçüncü toraks segmentinden kaynaklanan üyelerinde ve kanatlarında anormallik
gözlenmiştir. Anormallikler iki nesilde de ortaya çıkmıştır. F1
