Abstract

Leibniz'e, çağdaşı filozoflar arasında ayrı bir yer veren özelliklerden biri, Aristo'dan gelen şekilsel mantığa beslediği saygıdır. Leibniz, mantıkçı olarak alındığında, çalışmalarında, birbiriyle ilgili olmakla beraber, birbirinden başka iki cepheyi ayırmak gerekir; bunlardan biri, zamanının mantığını düzeltmek için giriştiği çalışmalar, öteki ise yepyeni bir mantık sistemini kurmak konusundaki denemeleridir. Bu çalışmada, Leibniz’in, yeni bir mantık biliminin temellerini kurmak yönündeki denemelerine yer verilmiştir.

Leibniz: The Precursor of New Logic

Abstract

One of the characteristics that separates Leibniz from his contemporary philosophers is the respect he has for the Aristotelian formal logic. When considered as a logician, two interrelated but different sides of his studies should be acknowledged. One of them is his studies on correcting the logic of the period, and the other includes his attempts to found a brand new system of logic. This study focuses on Leibniz’s attempts to lay the foundations for a new science of logic.
