The characteristics of the Mongolism Down Syndrome and the importance of the Genetic Counciling in this subject. In the human populations a lot of genetic malformation is found in a ratio of up to 10%'s, as a result of the mutation of the chromosomes. The most frequent genetic sickness is the Mongolism. it is usually seen in each 600-700 births. The subject of this study consists; a short history, the varieties, frequency and the characteristics of the Mongolism. Besides these, together with the other genetic sicknesses, the preventive and protective measures and the diagnostic methods have been studied. At the end, the importance of the Genetic Counselling available for this sickness is emphasized.
