JAVIER MARÍAS'IN “TÜM RUHLAR” VE “ZAMANIN KARANLIK YÜZÜ” ADLI ROMANLARINDA ÜSTKURGUSAL UNSURLAR

Abstract

İspanyol yazar Javier Marías'ın romanlarının çoğu dilimize çevrilmiş olmasına karşın ulusal literatürde yazarın eserleri üzerine yapılan çalışmalar yok denecek kadar azdır. Bu çalışma, J. Marías'ın Tüm Ruhlar Todas las almas 1989 ve Zamanın Karanlık Yüzü Negra espalda del tiempo 1998 romanlarında postmodern yazının ana kurgu ögelerinden biri olan üstkurgusal yapıyı çeşitli boyutlarıyla analiz edilerek literatüre katkıda bulunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Üzerinde henüz bir görüş birliği sağlanamasa da üstkurgunun genel olarak kendi kurgusallığını kurgu içinde yansıtan kurgu olarak tanımlandığı görülmektedir. Üstkurgunun ilk somut örneği ise XVII. yüzyılda Cervantes'in kaleme aldığı Don Quijote 1605 adlı eseri gösterilmektedir. Üstkurgu yazarları olay örgüsü, zaman-mekân gibi geleneksel romana özgü ögeleri reddederek oluşturduğu kurgusal evrenle ilgili yorumlar yaparak müdahalelerde bulunurlar. Bununla birlikte, anlatı metnindeki kurgu ile gerçekliğin arasındaki ayrımı bulanıklaştırarak çok katmanlı kurgusal bir dünya oluşturma çabasındadırlar. Bu bağlamda, J. Marías'ın yukarıda adı geçen romanlarının en önemli özelliği kurgu içinde kurgusal dünyayla ilgili yazarın okuru yönlendirmeye yönelik yorumlarda bulunmasıdır. Somut yaşamla kurgusal dünyanın arasındaki sınırları bilinçli olarak bulanıklaştıran J. Marías'ın yazar olarak kendini kurgusal bir karaktere dönüştürdüğü görülür. Bu çalışmayla J. Marías'ın iki romanında üstkurgusal unsurların ortaya çıkarılması hedeflenmektedir.

METAFICTIONAL ASPECTS OF JAVIER MARÍAS'S “ALL SOULS” AND “DARK BACK OF TIME”

Abstract

Although most of the novels of the Spanish writer Javier Marías have been translated into our language, there are very limited studies on the author's works in the national literature This study aims to contribute to the literature by analyzing the metafictional structure, which is one of the main fiction elements of postmodern writing in J. Marías' All Souls Todas Almas 1989 and The Dark Side of Time Negra Espalda del Tiempo 1998 . Although there is no consensus yet, it is seen that the metafiction is generally defined as a fiction that reflects its fictionalism in fiction. It is believed that the first concrete example of the metafiction dates back to the writer M. De Cervantes' seventeenth century novel Don Quijote 1605 . The metafiction writers intervene to comment on the fictional universe of writing, being created by rejecting the main elements of traditional novel such as plot and time-space. Furthermore, they try to build a multi-layered fictional world by blurring the distinction between fiction and reality in the narrative text. In this context, the most important feature of J. Marías' novels mentioned above is the author's comments about the fictional world for the purpose of guiding the reader about the fictional writing. J. Marías, who deliberately blurs the boundaries between the concrete life and the fictional world, appears to turn himself into a fictional character as a writer within the fictional narrative. It is aimed with this study to reveal metafictional aspects in two novels above mentioned of J. Marías.
