Skin Prick Test Results of Patients with Allergic Rhinitis in Düzce

Abstract

Objectives. To identify the responsible allergens in patients with allergic rhinitis and contribute to the establishment of allergen distribution specific to the region. Material and Methods. Skin prick test results and serum total IgE levels of 180 suspicous of allergic rhinitis patients who presented to Abant İzzet Baysal University Düzce Medical Faculty Department of Otolaryngology from February 2004 to March 2005 with symptoms like frequent sneezing, copious and serous rhinorrhea, nasal obstruction, itching of the eyes and nose were evaluated. Results. One hundred and two patients (56.7 %) was reactive to at least one allergen. Prick test positivity and hight total IgE levels were most frequent (30.4 %) in the age group of 21 to 30 years. Total IgE levels were elevated in 46 patients (% 45.1). Most common allergens were mites I (D. farinae), positive in 74 patients (72.5 %) and mites II (D. pteronyssinus), positive in 65 patients (63.7 %). After mites, grass pollens were the most common allergen seen in 29 patients (28.4 %), followed by barley, grasses-cereals, trees I, trees II and molds. Conclusion. Düzce’de Allerjik Rinitli Hastalarda Prick Testi Sonuçları

Abstract

Amaç: Düzce’deki allerjik rinitli hastalarda sorumlu allerjenlerin saptanması ve bu bölgeye özel alerji haritasının oluşturulmasına katkıda bulunmak. Gereç ve Yöntem: Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi, Düzce Tıp Fakültesi, Kulak Burun Boğaz Polikliniğine Şubat 2004 ile Mart 2005 tarihleri arasında, ard arda hapşırık nöbetleri, sık ve sulu burun akıntısı, burun tıkanıklığı, burunda ve gözlerde kaşıntı gibi şikayetlerle başvuran ve allerjik rinit düşünülen 180 hastanın standart prick testi sonuçları değerlendirildi. Beraberinde total IgE ölçümleri yapıldı. Bulgular yaşa ve duyarlı bulunan allerjenlere göre değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Prick testi uygulanan 180 hastanın 102’sinde (%56.7) en az bir allerjene karşı pozitif yanıt tespit edildi. Prick testi pozitifliği ve total IgE yüksekliği en fazla 21-30 (%30.4) yaş arasında idi. Total IgE ölçümleri 46 hastada (%45.1) yüksek bulundu. Prick testlerinde en fazla pozitiflik 74 hasta ile (%72.5) Akar 1 ve 65 hasta ile (%63.7) Akar 2 allerjenlerine karşı idi. Akarlardan sonra en sık 29 hastada (%28.4) otlar karışımına allerji tespit edildi. Bunları da sıklık sırasına göre arpa, otlar tahıllar, ağaçlar 1 ve 2 ve küfler takip etti. Sonuç: Düzce bölgesinde allerjik rinite en sık neden olan alerjenlerin ev tozu akarları olduğu düşünüldü
