Evaluation Of Scorpion Sting Cases Admitted to Department of Pediatric Emergency for Seven Years

Abstract

Aim: In this study, 32 cases of scorpion sting cases admitted to Inonu University School ofMedicine Children's Emergency Department between 2001-2007 were evaluated retrospectively.Material and Method: The cases were evaluated for the clinical findings, laboratory results,treatment and prognosis.Results: The patients mean age were 7.35±4.79 years, 17 (53.1%) were female and 15 (46.9%)were male respectively. Most of the cases were in June (25.0%) and most of the bites were atupper extremities (53.1%). The most common findings were rash (eight patients-25.1%), andtachycardia (9.5%). All of case were vaccinated against to tetanus. The fluid therapy wasinitiated the patients that is required the intravenous therapy. Twenty eight (87.5%) case whichscorpion not applied in the referred center were administered scorpion serum. Twenty onepatients (65.6%) were followed up for a day. Thirty one cases (96.8%) were discharged withoutcomplications while and one case (3.1%) were died due to respiratory and circulatory collapseConclusions: Our study have given important clinic and epidemical results about scorpion stingsin Malatya religion

Çocuk Acil Servisine Başvuran Yedi Yıllık Akrep Sokması Olgularının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Çalışmada, İnönü Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Acil Servisine 2001–2007 yıllarıarasında başvuran 0–18 yaş aralığındaki 32 akrep sokması olgusunun retrospektif olarakdeğerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Olgular epidemiyolojik, klinik, laboratuvar, tedavi ve prognoz açısındanincelenmiştir.Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 7.35±4.79 yıl, 17’si kız (%53.1) ve 15‘i erkek (% 46.9) idi.En sık başvurular haziran ayında (%25.0) yapıldı. En sık ısırılma yeri ise üst ekstremitelerdi(%53.1). Lokal olarak kızarıklık (%25.1), sistemik olarak taşikardi (%9.5) en fazla görülenbulgulardandı. Olguların hepsine tetanoz aşısı yapıldı. Sevk edildikleri merkezde akrep serumuuygulanmayan 28 olguya (%87.5) akrep serumu uygulandı. Hastaların 21’i (%65.6) bir günsüreyle takip edildi. Otuzbir olgu (%96.8) komplikasyon gelişmeden taburcu edilirken, bir olgu(%3.1) solunum ve dolaşım kollapsı nedeniyle kaybedildi.Sonuç: Çalışmamız Malatya bölgesindeki akrep sokmaları hakkında önemli epidemiyolojik veklinik sonuçlar vermektedir
