The Relationship Between Insulin Resistance and the Parameters Obtained From Gated Spect Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy

Abstract

Purpose: To investigate the correlation between myocardial perfusion scintigraphic findingsand insulin resistance.Methods: Our study group consisted of 153 non-diabetic patients (80 women and 73 men, meanage 54 ± 12), referred to our department for the myocardial perfusion scintigraphy withsuspected coronary artery disease between October/2011-April/2012., Fasting insulin and bloodsugar levels were measured. Insulin resistance was calculated using HOMA-IR method. Leftventricular quantitative parameters were automatically calculated using quantitative GATEDSPECT (QGS) software.Results: According to the scintigraphic results, 90 (58.8%) of the patients were normal and 48(31.3%) of the patients had ischemia. Mean insulin values of patients were found to be9.06±13.95 in normal group and 7.50±5.71 in the ischemic group (p=0.943). Additionally,HOMA-IR was 2.19±3.59 in normal group and 1.71±1.34 in the ischemic group (p=0.368).There was no significant difference between scintigraphic findings and insulin resistance orHOMA-IR results. Conclusion: We found no significant correlation between insulin resistance and cardiovascularrisk parameters obtained from GATED SPECT MPS

İNSÜLİN DİRENCİ İLE GATED MYOKARD PERFÜZYON SPECT SİNTİGRAFİSİNDEN ELDE EDİLEN PARAMETRELERİN İLİŞKİSİ

Abstract

Amaç: GATED SPECT miyokart perfüzyon sintigrafisi (MPS) çalışmasında elde ettiğimizkardiyovasküler risk parametreleri ile insülin direnci arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır.Yöntem: Ekim/2011-Nisan/2012 tarihleri arasında koroner arter hastalığı (KAH) öntanısı ileMPS için bölümümüze başvuran diyabet tanısı olmayan 153 hasta çalışmaya dahil edildi.80kadın, 73 erkek (ortalama yaş 54±12) çalışma grubunu oluşturdu. Hastalardan açlık kan örneklerialınıp alınan kan örneklerinde açlık insülin ve açlık kan şekeri seviyeleri ölçüldü. İnsülin direnciHOMA-IR metodu ile hesaplandı. Görsel olarak iskemi varlığı değerlendirildi. Sol ventriküleait sayısal parametreler kantitatif GATED SPECT (QGS) yazılımı ile otomatik olarak elde edildi.Bulgular: Hastalar sintigrafik sonuçlarına göre 90 (%58.8)’ı normal ve 48 (31.3)’i iskemikolarak bulundu. Hastaların insülin değerleri normal grupta 9.06±13.95 ve iskemik grupta7.50±5.71 bulundu (p=0.943). Ayrıca normal grupta HOMA-IR 2.19±3.59 iken iskemik grupta1.71±1.34 olarak bulundu (p=0.368).Sonuç: Çalışmamızda GATED SPECT MPS çalışmasından elde ettiğimiz kardiyovasküler riskparametreleri ile insülin rezistansı arasında anlamlı bir ilişkisinin olmadığı bulunmuştur
