EMEK PİYASASININ EN ALTINDAKİLER GÖÇMENLER: İSTANBUL’DA TÜRKİYELİ VE SURİYELİ ÇALIŞANLAR ARASINDAKİ ÜCRET AYRIMCILIĞI

Abstract

Göçmen emeği son yıllarda Türkiye emek piyasasında çok fazla görünür hale geldi. Özellikle sayıları 3,6 milyona yaklaşan Suriyeli göçmenler, Türkiye’nin bazı illerinde emek piyasasının önemli parçasıdır. Genellikle Türkiye emek piyasasında önemli yer edinen göçmenler içinde bulundukları yaşam koşulları nedeniyle kayıt dışında, güvencesiz ve düşük ücretli olarak istihdam edilmektedir. Bu çalışma Türkiye’nin en fazla göçmene ev sahipliği yapan şehri İstanbul’da Suriyeli göçmenler ile Türkiyeli çalışanlar arasındaki ücret ayrımcılığı konusu ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada Türkiyeli ve Suriyeli emekçilerin arasındaki ücret farklılığına etki eden cinsiyet, eğitim ve çalışma süresinin etkileri analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda Suriyeli göçmenlerin Türkiye emek piyasasında ücret ayrımcılığına uğradığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

IMMIGRANTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LABOR MARKET: WAGE DISCRIMINATION BETWEEN TURKISH AND SYRIAN WORKERS IN ISTANBUL

Abstract

Migrant labor has become visible in the Turkish labor market in recent years. Especially Syrian immigrants, whose number is approaching 3.6 million, are an important part of the labor market in some provinces of Turkey. Generally, immigrants are employed unregistered, insecure and with low wages due to their living conditions. This study deals with the issue of wage discrimination between Syrian migrants and Turkish workers in Istanbul, which hosts the highest number of immigrants in Turkey. In the study, the effects of gender, education, and working time on the wage gap between Turkish and Syrian workers were analyzed. As a result of the study, it has been concluded that Syrian immigrants are subject to wage discrimination in the Turkish labor market.
