Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between isometric leg strength, aerobic capacity, and anaerobic power in U16 category soccer players. Twenty-five elite young male soccer players in the U16 age category (age = 15.36±0.49 years; height = 1.75±0.05 m; body weight = 63.24±6.26 kg) were included in the study. Participants took part in a total of three test sessions and one familiarization session during the study period. During the familiarization session, participants' height and body weight measurements were taken, and participants were informed about the study and the tests were supervised. The Yo-Yo test was administered in the first measurement, the RAST (Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test) in the second measurement, and the isometric leg strength test in the third measurement. The normality analysis of the obtained data was examined using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution (p>0.05). The correlation between the variables (isometric leg strength, aerobic capacity, and anaerobic power) was tested using Pearson correlation analysis. Statistical significance was accepted at p<0.05, and a 95% confidence interval (95% CI) was calculated. The research findings indicate that a positive, moderate, and statistically significant relationship was found between participants' absolute (W) and relative (W/kg) anaerobic power performance and their aerobic capacity. Another finding is that the isometric leg strength of soccer players showed a high level of statistically significant relationship with absolute anaerobic power performance, while relative anaerobic power performance showed a moderate level of statistically significant relationship. In contrast, no statistically significant relationship was found between isometric leg strength values and aerobic capacity. In conclusion, anaerobic power performance in young soccer players was found to be related to both aerobic capacity and isometric leg strength. It is recommended that coaches consider the relationships between performance parameters and design training plans accordingly to improve athlete performance.

İzometrik Bacak Kuvveti, Aerobik Kapasite ve Anaerobik Güç Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi: U16 Futbolcularda Kesitsel Bir Araştırma
