Havuzdere, Geyikdere, İnebeyli ve Tepeköy (Karamürsel, Yalova, Türkiye) Civarindaki Zeolitik Tüflerin Mineralojik ve Petrografik Özellikleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, İzmit körfezinin güneyinde, Karamürsel-İzmit civarında yer alan Tepeköy, İnebeyli, Havuzdere ve Geyikdere civarındaki Alt-Orta Eosen yaşlı volkanoklastik malzemedeki, zeolitik tüflerin, mineralojik ve petrografik özellikleri, polarizan mikroskop, X-ışını difraktometre (XRD) ve SEM+EDS analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. XRD sonuçlarına göre zeolit oluşumları vitrik tüflerde gözlenmiştir. Vitrik tüflerin modal mineralojik bileşimi volkan camı (%90), kristaller (%8), opak ve FeO’leşmiş mineral (%2) olarak belirlenmiştir. Kristaller başlıca feldispat, kuvars, biyotit mineralleridir. Volkan camı yaygın olarak volkan camı kıymıkları ve matriksden oluşmaktadır. Zeolitleşme vitrik tüflerdeki volkan camlarının alterasyonu sonucu oluşmaktadır. XRD çalışmalarına göre Tepeköy, İnebeyli köyü ve Havuzdere köyü’nde zeolit minerali klinoptilolit şeklinde oluşurken Geyikdere köyü’nde ise höylandit şeklinde oluşmaktadır.
