Delayed Replantation of an Avulsed Tooth: A Case Report

Abstract

Avulsion is the completely taking out of thetooth from the dental socket; and replantation isreplacing the teeth which have been completelyavulsed by trauma. Traumatic injuries to permanent anterior teeth are common during childhoodand 0.5- 16 % of the 7 to 10 years age group experience tooth avulsion. The prognosis of replantedteeth depends on several factor, the most importantbeing the length of extra-oral dry time. The mostpreferable management for the avulsed tooth isimmediate replantation, within 20-30 min afterinjury or keeping in storage media until dental visit.The purpose of this case report, is replantationtechnique which used in the treatment of an avulsive tooth case. Case was avulsed right mandibulary permanent lateral incisor of 8 years old malepatient suffering from a traumatic injury whocame to the clinic 16 h later from injury. Although replantation of avulsed permanentteeth are widely accepted treatment approach, thelong-term prognosis of replanted teeth are stillcontraversial
