Sensitivity Evaluation of Incisor Teeth with Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation

Year 2010, Volume: 37 Issue: 2 - Volume: 37 Issue: 2, 83 - 87, 01.10.2010

Abstract

Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation MIH is defined as, hypomineralisation seen clinically in one or more first molar teeth and incisor teeth. Teeth with MIH can show different color of lesions that usually classify as white-cream and yellow-brown. Usually the darker colored lesions are considered more severe. Sensitivity complaints are commonly seen in teeth affected with MIH. Patients whom have MIH have sensitivity for hot and cold food and drinks, sweet and even to brushing. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between sensitivity degree and color of hypomineralisation lesions. 120 teeth of 42 patients with MIH were included in the study. Patients were grouped according to their gender, color of lesions white-cream, yellow-brown and locations of teeth mandible, maxilla . The responses to the cold stimuli of each tooth were recorded using Visual Analog Scale VAS . MannWhitney U test was used for statistical analysis p < 0,05 . Although lower incisor teeth and teeth with yellow-brown lesions showed higher sensitivity scores the difference was not statistically significant p>0,05 . Girls showed statistically more sensitivity p

Büyük azı-keser hipomineralizasyonu gözlenen kesici dişlerde hassasiyetin değerlendirilmesi

Year 2010, Volume: 37 Issue: 2 - Volume: 37 Issue: 2, 83 - 87, 01.10.2010
