Changes in interjaw relations may affect headposture and produce variations in EMG activity ofthe main masticatory muscles. Regarding this data,we have examined postural and muscle activitychanges in edentulous patients using upper andlower complete dentures. The study included twenty female patientsabove 55 years of age wearing complete denturesfor at least 5 years. EMG activity of temporal andmasseter muscles were evaluated with BioEMG system in resting position and while gum chewing withthe right or left side. Records were taken with theold dentures, 48 hours after the insertions of newdentures and 3 and 6 month control dates.Evaluation of EMG recordings showed that inresting position temporal and masseter muscleactivities decreased after insertion of new dentures. Both muscles indicated increased activity whilechewing on both sides. Masseter muscle activitywas more stable as compared to that of the temporal muscle in on all the recordings
