Effects of Bleaching Materials on the Enamel Surface Morphology

Abstract

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of a tray based bleaching gel % 10CP and two strip based whitening materials %5.3,%14 HP on the enamel surface morphology.Ten intact maxillary human central teethnewly extracted for periodontal purposes fromadult between 40-50 years age were used. After theroots were removed with cutting at the cementoenamel junction, four fragments of each crownwere obtained by sectioning the tooth longitudinally in a mesiodistal and bucco-lingual direction.Three fragments of each tooth received one of thethree bleaching treatments for 21 days, the fourthfragment of each tooth any treatment were appliedand used as control. All the teeth fragments werethen prepared to be analyze in a scanning electronmicroscopy.Bleaching agents demonstrated differentmorphological observations on the enamel surface.Whitening strips with lower peroxide concentrationshowed similar enamel surface morphology tocontrol. Whitening strips with higher peroxideconcentration revealed mild surface alterations,while bleaching gel exhibited more evident alterations

AĞARTMA MATERYALLERİNİN MİNE YÜZEY MORFOLOJİSİ ÜZERİNE ETKİLERİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı bir ağartma jeli % 10CP ve iki ağartıcı strip’in %5.3, %14 HP mine yüzey morfolojisi üzerine etkisini değerlendirmekti. Bu amaçla 40-50 yaşlar›ndaki yetişkinlerden periodontal amaçla yeni çekilen 10 adet çürüksüz üst santral diş kullan›ld›. Dişlerin kökleri minesement s›n›r›ndan kesilip uzaklaşt›r›ld›ktan sonra, her bir diş kronu longitudinal olarak mesiodistal ve buccolingual yönde 4 eşit k›sma ayr›ld›. Her bir kronun 3 parças›na 3 ağartma tedavisinden biri 21 gün uyguland›. Dördüncü parçaya hiçbir tedavi uygulanmad› ve kontrol grubu olarak değerlendirildi. Daha sonra bütün örnekler elektron mikroskobunda SEM değerlendirilmek için haz›rland›. Ağartma materyalleri mine yüzeyinde farkl› morfolojik görüntüler sergilediler. Düşük konsantrasyonuna sahip stripler ile kontrol grubuna benzer mine yüzey morfolojisi elde edildi. Yüksek peroksit konsantrasyonlu stripler hafif değişiklikler oluştururken, ağartma jeli ile daha belirgin değişiklikler gözlendi.
