Comparison of Digital Radiographs with the other methods in the Determination of Root Canal Lengths

Abstract

In our study, digital radiographs were compared with electronic apex locator and convensional radiographs in the determination of root canallength, in in vivo conditions.103 teeth were used in the study. Followingcreation of access cavities in the teeth, root canallengths were determined with electronic apex locator and then, with both conventional and digitalintraoral periapical radiographic imaging. Rootcanal lengths were determined with standartmethod in the conventional radiographs and with asoftware programme in the digital radiographs.Statistical analysis were performed by ANOVA andBonferroni tests. No statistically significant differences were observed among the study groups. Ourresults suggest that, root canal determination withdigital radiography may be acceptable method inendodontic treatment as compared with other methods

KÖK KANAL BOYUNUN BELİRLENMESİNDE DİJİTAL RADYOGRAFİLERİN DİĞER YÖNTEMLERLE KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Araştırmamızda kök kanal boyu tespitindedijital radyografiler in vivo şartlarda elektronikapeks bulucu ve konvansiyonel radyografilerlekarşılaştırıldı.Çalışmamızda 103 adet dişten yararlanıldı.Dişlerin giriş kavitesi açıldıktan sonra elektronikapeks bulucu ile kök kanal boyu tespit edildi. Dahasonra konvansiyonel ve dijital radyografik görüntüler elde edildi. Elde edilen görüntülerden konvansiyonel radyografilerde standart yöntem ile, dijital radyografilerde ise yaz›l›m program› kullan›- larak kök kanal boylar› saptand›. Elde edilen değerler istatistiksel olarak tekrarlanan ölçümlü ANOVA ve Bonferroni çoklu karş›laşt›rma testi ile değerlendirildi. Çal›şma bulgular›na göre gruplar aras›nda istatistiksel aç›dan anlaml› bir fark bulunamad›. Bu nedenle dijital yöntemin diğer yöntemlerle k›yasland›ğ›nda endodontik aç›dan kök kanal boyu tespiti ve diğer endodontik değerlendirmelerde kabul edilebilir olduğu sonucuna var›ld›.
