Abstract

Abstract

Quetiapine, used in the treatment of various psychiatric disorders, can cause skin rash. In this case report, we presented a skin rash associated with quetiapine use. A 43-year-old male patient, who was followed up with the diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder and was started on quetiapine 200 mg/day for insomnia, developed a skin rash limited to the face, scalp, and neck area on the seventh day of treatment. This side effect that occurred after the drug was started was associated with the use of quetiapine and the drug was discontinued. After discontinuation of quetiapine, the skin rash gradually decreased and disappeared completely after three weeks. The patient's treatment for generalized anxiety disorder was completed and he was discharged. No skin rash was observed in the follow-ups. Skin-related side effects may be associated with quetiapine use. Clinicians should be alert to the rash side effect of quetiapine.
