Issues of the Turkish Oral Traditional Culture-2: “Cult of Animal Ancestor or Cult of Ancestors?”

Abstract

In this article, we emphasize the mother subject of oral epic poetry who is pregnant to the hero of the future and craving for unusual objects such as tiger lung, lion heart, snake&dragon head, diamond, black stone, etc. and the related “Cult of Ancestors” and “Cult of Animal Ancestor”. We deem that the object craved by the mother is related with “Sky and Earth/Water” components and therefore with the Sacred and along with this thesis in Turkish Culture there is no such a thing as cult of Animal Ancestor. The humankind of archaic culture who ties their origin to a variety of animals does not constitute sound and strong base for us to put forward this event as the legitimate evidence of “Cult of Animal Ancestors” and therefore we strongly believe that there exits “Cult of Ancestors” solely related with the Sacred
