Abstract

12. yy sonlarına doğru Prag’dan çıkıp Kırım ve Kafkaslar üzerinden Bağdat’a seyahat eden Yahudi âlim Petahya’nın anlattıkları kayda geçirilmiş ve bir seyahatname kıvamında bize ulaşmıştır. Petahya genellikle sadece Yahudileri anlatıp diğer insanları görmezden gelmekle birlikte, yeri geldikçe dolaştığı bölgelerle ilgili faydalı bilgiler vermektedir. Özellikle geç Selçuklu ve Eyyûbî dönemiyle ilgili çalışmalarda onun verileri pek kullanılmamıştır. Ayrıca Kıpçak arazisine dair güzel tasvirleri vardır. Bu makalede Petahya’nın seyahatnamesindeki Türklerle ilgili veya ilgilendirilebilecek bahisler çevrilmiş ve açıklanmıştır

Excerpts from the Itinerary Book of Petachia of Ratisbon on the Turks and Their Countries

Abstract

Petachia of Ratisbon (Regensburg), the Jewish trader and educated man who made a long journey from Prague to Baghdad via the Crimea and the Caucasus, had his memories and impressions recorded in his return to home. He usually tells only Jewish population of the visited lands, and disregards the others, but nevertheless his itinerary book includes very useful information for historians of other areas, too. Historians working on the late Saljukid era have not made use of his data. Besides, he makes great description of the Kipchak steppes. This essay consists of translations and explanations of the parts that may be useful in Turkic studies
