The new owners of the future: the elderly (Geleceğin yeni sahipleri: yaşlılar)

Abstract

This review examines "Geleceğin Yeni Sahipleri: Yaşlılar" (The New Owners of the Future: The Elderly), a Turkish-language gerontology collection edited by Ahmet Akgül, Nur Elçin Boyacıoğlu, and Sera Yiğiter. The book spans four main sections covering diverse aging topics from evolutionary perspectives to marginalized issues. What strikes me most is how the volume positions aging not merely as biological decline but as a complex, multifaceted phenomenon shaped by biological, social, and cultural forces working in tandem.
