Sociological Approach to The Conceptions of Emotion and Intelligence

Abstract

The concepts of emotion and intelligence are mostly considered as the subject of individual psychology and are defined from this point. The interpersonal and social aspects of emotion and intelligence are either seen as a neglected field or as miraculous concepts of personal development studies. However, the understanding of the concepts of emotion and intelligence correctly, which are tried to be defined with popular perspectives, and not neglecting its social aspect, is an important issue in the analysis of interpersonal relations and sociologically. In this study, the analysis of the concepts of emotion and intelligence, and the determinations about the relationship between them are mentioned, and their importance in terms of interpersonal relations and sociological aspects is evaluated. The aim of this study is to analyze the concepts of emotion and intelligence in different disciplines, to reveal that these concepts are not only physiological or psychological concepts, but also to be sociological concepts, to discuss the use of these concepts in the field of sociology and to show the importance of applying the right concepts and definitions in sociological evaluations. As a result of the analyzes, it has been revealed that emotion and intelligence are genetically and individually defined and meaned in biological, physiological and psychological conceptualizations. In sociological conceptualizations, it has been understood that interpersonal relation and communication is conceptualized in terms of culture and society. It has been concluded that the necessity of defining the concepts from this point and the correct understanding and use of the concepts are sociologically important in order to prevent misconceptions and their use in sociology studies.

Duygu ve Zekâ Kavramlarına Sosyolojik Bakmak

Abstract

Duygu ve zekâ kavramları daha çok bireysel psikolojinin konusu olarak değerlendirilmekte ve bu noktadan hareketle tanımlanmaktadır. Duygu ve zekânın kişiler arası ilişkiler ve toplumsal yönü, ya ihmal edilen bir alan ya da kişisel gelişim çalışmalarının mucizevi kavramları olarak görülmektedir. Oysaki popüler bakış açılarıyla tanımlanmaya çalışılan duygu ve zekâ kavramlarının doğru anlaşılması, onun toplumsal yönünün ihmal edilmemesi, kişiler arası ilişkilerin analizinde ve sosyolojik açıdan önemli bir konudur. Bu çalışmada, duygu ve zekâ kavramlarının tahlili ve aralarındaki ilişki ile ilgili tespitlere yer verilmiş, kişiler arası ilişkiler ve sosyolojik yönü bakımından önemi değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, farklı bilim dallarında duygu ve zekâ kavramlarını tahlil ederek bu kavramların sadece fizyolojik ya da psikolojik kavramlar olmadığını aynı zamanda sosyolojik kavramlar olduğunu ortaya koymak, sosyoloji bilim alanında bu kavramların kullanımı ve aralarındaki ilişkiyi tartışarak, sosyolojik değerlendirmelerde doğru kavram ve tanımlamalara başvurulmasının önemini göstermektir. Analizlerin sonucunda duygu ve zekânın biyolojik, fizyolojik ve psikolojik kavramsallaştırmalarda genetik ve bireysel açıdan tanımlandığı ve anlamlandırıldığı ortaya konulmuştur. Sosyolojik kavramsallaştırmalarda ise kişiler arası ilişkiler ve iletişim, kültür ve toplum açısından kavramsallaştırıldığı anlaşılmıştır. Sosyoloji çalışmalarında yanlış kavramsallaştırmaların ve kullanımlarının önüne geçilebilmesi için kavramların bu noktadan tanımlanmasının gerekliliği, kavramların doğru şekilde anlaşılması ve kullanılmasının sosyolojik açıdan önemli olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
