Abstract

Bu çalışma, iskemik ve hemorajik serebrovasküler olay tanısı alan hastalarda inflamatuar biyobelirteçlerin, özellikle nötrofil-lenfosit oranının (NLR), prognostik değerini değerlendirmektedir. Retrospektif olarak yürütülen araştırmaya 116 hasta (100 iskemik inme ve 16 hemorajik inme) dahil edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, her iki grupta da NLR ile hastanede kalış süresi arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir korelasyon olmadığını göstermiştir. NLR, çeşitli akut durumlarda prognostik bir belirteç olarak yaygın şekilde incelenmiş olsa da, inme sonuçlarındaki rolü tartışmalıdır. Bu çalışma, NLR ve sistemik immün-inflamasyon indeksi (SII) ve pan-immün inflamasyon değeri (PIV) gibi diğer inflamatuar indekslerin inme yönetimindeki kullanımını netleştirmek için daha fazla araştırmaya ihtiyaç olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Bulgular, NLR'nin tek başına inme hastalarında mortalite veya morbiditenin güvenilir bir öngörücüsü olmayabileceğini ve bağlama özgü biyobelirteç değerlendirmesinin önemini ortaya koymaktadır.

Letter to Editor for The Prognostic Value of Blood Parameters in Patients Diagnosed With Ischemic And Hemorrhagic

Abstract

This study evaluates the prognostic value of inflammatory biomarkers, particularly the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), in patients diagnosed with ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events. The research, conducted retrospectively, included 116 patients (100 ischemic strokes and 16 hemorrhagic strokes). The results indicated no statistically significant correlation between NLR and hospital length of stay in either group. While NLR has been widely studied as a prognostic marker in various acute conditions, its role in stroke outcomes remains controversial. This study highlights the need for further research to clarify the utility of NLR and other inflammatory indices, such as the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and pan-immune inflammation value (PIV), in stroke management. The findings suggest that NLR alone may not be a reliable predictor of mortality or morbidity in stroke patients, emphasizing the importance of context-specific biomarker evaluation.
