Migration of Intrauterine Device and Acute Abdomen
Abstract
Intrauterine device (IUD) is one of the most common used contraseptive methods. Although it has minimal side effects, it can rarely cause uterine perforation. In addition, it can damage neighboring organs by migration to the abdominal or pelvic cavity. In this report we present a case with an acute abdominal condition due to a migrating IUD. It is rarely seen and can be fatal if missed.
